Joinery work is the making and fitting of finished woodwork, such as cabinets, fitted furniture, shelving and feature walls, built to the exact size of your room. It is worth considering when a standard unit would leave gaps, waste height or force you to work around the shape of the room. That happens often with alcoves, loft rooms and older homes with walls that are not perfectly straight.
The difference shows in the details. Units run up to the ceiling, sit flush against uneven walls and are laid out inside for what you actually keep in them. The trade-off is time: made-to-measure work is planned and made for you, so it takes longer than buying off the shelf.

Made-to-measure joinery is the better choice when the space is awkward, when you want to use the full height of the room or when you need a specific layout inside. Ready-made units usually cost less upfront and are available sooner, so they suit simple, regular spaces.

We work with MDF, plywood, laminates, acrylic and glass, together with branded hardware. Each suits different jobs. MDF gives a smooth, even surface for painted and wrapped finishes. Plywood is strong and holds fixings well, so it suits shelving and load-bearing parts. Laminates are hard-wearing and easy to clean, acrylic gives a glossy modern look and glass adds light or a display feature.
